Racquel Hilbert is the Sask Party MLA for the Humboldt-Watrous constituency.

REGINA - Humboldt-Watrous MLA Racquel Hilbert has been stripped of her duties following remarks in the House in which she referred to federal NDP leader Jagmeet Singh as a terrorist.

The government announced Friday that Hilbert has been removed from her additional MLA responsibilities, including Treasury Board, Wanuskewin Board of Directors, Caucus Irrigation Committee and Deputy Caucus Chair.

There had been calls by the Opposition over the last couple of days to remove Hilbert from the Sask Party caucus completely, but so far the government has stopped short of that. Hilbert has apologized for her remarks, although NDP MLAs have said that apology is not good enough.

In a statement from the government, it was noted Premier Scott Moe had indicated in the Assembly that the comments made by Hilbert were inaccurate and highly inappropriate.

The NDP's Tajinder Grewal was expected to respond in Saskatoon this afternoon. The initial indication from the NDP is that they will not let up on their call to kick Hilbert out of caucus, saying they consider removing Hilbert from additional responsibilities as a "slap on the wrist."
