STEEL

Brenda Ann Steel aged 72 years of Moose Jaw, SK, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 12th, 2024, after a very long battle with renal failure.

Brenda woke up everyday with the desire to live with everything she had. She was a fighter, the epitome of strength, with a side of sassy and a whole lot of feisty. She really knew how to make you laugh no matter her struggles, her wit kept us on our toes. Her kind, loving, giving heart made everyone fall in love with her instantly.

Brenda was born to Lyall and Bertha Steel on March 10th, 1952. She is now reunited with her parents; and her brother, Ed Whitehead, who was her very special bestie, and she is survived by his wife Cheryl Whitehead and her family; Ed’s children: Rhonda McGinnis (Ken and family), Crystal Bellegarde (Peter and family), Tracey Closs (Jeff and family), and Carey Whitehead. Brenda will be lovingly remembered by her only daughter, Alysha Simpson (Brian Morhart and his daughter Charli); and her absolute pride and joy, her grandsons Kael and Ethan Brentnell. Brenda was never so proud as to see her grandsons travel the world and chase their dreams. They were her everything. She spoke of them to everyone she could. Brenda is also survived by her precious sister, Wendy (Randy) Drake. They were sisters who never spent a moment apart and were each others’ rocks. She also leaves behind their children, Brenda's 2 very special nephews, Adam Drake (children, Treasure and Jett) and Taylor Drake (Kaylin Freeman and children, Lennon and Baker). Brenda also leaves behind her brother, Lyall (Isabelle Durand); and her globetrotting nieces, Ariane and Carline Lemire.

Brenda started her working career in radio at CHAB and moved onto various radio stations around the province. This was followed by the local newspaper before pursuing a career as a Mental Health Nurse. Throughout her nursing career, her work ethic, loving nature, and the relationships she formed made her a very well-respected nurse in the mental health community.

Brenda had an incredibly special bond with the Dialysis Nurses in Moose Jaw. She spoke of them daily. The laughter and love that she was given during her time in dialysis meant the world to her and they very quickly became her second family, her home away from home. She was so grateful for her medical team that supported her.

Although our family is small, Brenda will be fiercely missed and was so very loved. Brenda aka...AB, Aunty Toilet, and Alberta ...WE LOVE YOU!

A Celebration of Life for Brenda will be announced at a later date. In memory of Brenda, donations in her name may be made to the Canadian Mental Health Association Moose Jaw Branch, 326B High St W, Moose Jaw, SK S6H 1S9 or Moose Jaw Health Foundation (Dialysis), 55 Diefenbaker Drive, Moose Jaw, SK S6J 0C2. Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane. Andrew Pratt, Funeral Director 306-693-4550
