WILLIAM GORDON SEMAN
October 9th, 1929 - October 2nd, 2024

It is with heavy hearts that the family of William (Bill or Willie) Seman announce his passing on Wednesday, October 2nd, 2024, just one week prior to his 95th birthday.

Bill was the youngest of four children born to Andrew and Anne Seman and was raised on his parents’ farm near Boharm, SK. His education was obtained at McRoberts School close to the farm. He experienced the dirty thirties and all the difficulties that farmers face.

Bill moved to Moose Jaw, SK in 1947 and started working for Co-op Creameries. From 1948 to 1951, he drove a city bus until he moved back home and started farming with his dad and two brothers.

Bill married Vivian Lois Allcock in 1958. They initially rented and then purchased the George Field farm SW of Boharm in 1959, which is still farmed by the family today. Bill and Vivian had four children: Deborah (1958), Gordon (1960), Wendy (1964), and Judy (1971). Vivian passed away in 1972. Bill continued to farm with the live-in help of Vivian’s mother Margaret. The family was actively involved in the Moose Jaw 4-H Beef Club with Bill as the club leader for many years. He encouraged the family in other sports like curling. Bill also enjoyed gardening, fishing, baseball, and was a season ticket holder of the Moose Jaw Warriors for years. He was active on the Saskatchewan Wheat Pool (30-year pin) and a councillor for Division 1 in the RM of Caron #162 for 8 years.

In 1981, Bill married Doreen Spearman who had four boys from a previous marriage. Bill and Doreen lived on the farm at Boharm until 1988 when they moved into Moose Jaw. They both enjoyed square dancing and bowling and took numerous trips together until Doreen passed away in 1995.

Bill eventually re-united with a friend, Estella (Stella) Gill, who had five children. They moved in together and enjoyed travelling and golfing. They finally sold the house and moved into Athabasca Towers. Then Stella became ill and passed away in 2017.

Bill then moved to The Bentley in Moose Jaw to have more assistance in daily living. He became close friends with Reta Gorkoff who lived across the hall from him. Bill and Reta enjoyed visiting and playing cribbage together.

Bill’s health was declining so he moved to West Park Crossing for a few months until his passing.

He was predeceased by his parents, Andrew and Anne; first wife, Vivian; brother, Roy and his wife Shirley; brother, Norman; sister, Joyce and her husband Bill; his second wife, Doreen; and close friend, Estella Gill. Bill leaves to mourn, his children: Deborah Huenison (Mark), Gordon Seman (Corinne), Wendy Robbins (Grant), and Judy Bruce (Shannon); nine grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren; his good friend, Reta Gorkoff; as well as other relatives and step family, too numerous to mention.

The family wishes to thank The Bentley and West Park Crossing for their care and compassion during Bill’s stay with them.

A Celebration of Bill’s Life will be held on Friday, October 11th, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. in Moose Jaw Funeral Home with Pastor Marvin Seaborg officiating.
