Mom, Sharon Anne Metz (Waletzky)

It is with a broken heart we announce the passing of Sharon Anne Metz (Waletzky) of Moose Jaw, SK on the 13th of March 2025.

Sharon was born in Moose Jaw, the second child born to Lola and Jack Waletzky in 1949. She graduated high school in 1967 and shortly after began her 41-year career at the City of Moose Jaw. She married Daryl Metz in 1970 and gave birth to their only son Warren Metz in 1974.

Sharon’s passions laid in art and music with her collection, beginning in the vinyl era and dabbling in many forums from ceramics to painting to flower arranging but her biggest passion was plants and flowers and roses were always on display in her yard.

Mom was always committed to family from the frequent Sunday dinners at her parents’ place, to all out vacations revolving around which relatives we needed to visit, to following my dad around and learning how to hunt, which he took me along from the age of two.  Even attending all the wildlife conservation events my dad was always volunteering for and organizing.

I will always remember how my mom was always there no matter what. No matter what shoes or equipment I needed for my constant change in sports at a young age to make sure I always got to every practice and every game. She helped me deliver flyers and catalogues for my first ever job. Always encouraging me to do my best and do what makes me happy. Moving me all over western Canada as I tried escaping the peace and tranquility of home. And always even more excited to move me back when I changed my mind.

In her retirement years Sharon went on plenty of adventures with her family and friends. Her favourite being bus tours to casinos. Not for the gambling, but for the new stores for shopping.

Sharon is predeceased by her Mother and Father Lola and Jack Waletzky. Her older brother Jim. Her niece Tanys Anderson and her loving husband Daryl Metz.

She leaves behind her sister Jan Mokry and brother in law Brian and Nephew Christopher. Her half-sister Sandy Anderson and niece Heather Anderson-Slusarenko and her husband Kevin and their son Jack. And lastly her heart broken son Warren Metz. I’ll miss you forever mom.

Memorial donations in Sharon's name may be made to the Shrine Club in Moose Jaw. An informal celebration of Sharon and Daryl's 55th wedding anniversary will be on April 4, 2025 from noon to 3pm at the Wa Wa Shrine Club, 1767 Main St. N in Moose Jaw.  A bar will be open and sandwiches and snacks will be provided. In living memory of Sharon, a memorial planting will be made by W.J. Jones & Son Ltd. Please sign the memorial register at website: (Obituaries).
