Richard Ernest Knights aged 87 years of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, passed away on the 23rd of October 2024. He is now with the love of his life Margaret as they walk on the golden road to Heaven, holding each other's hand as they have done for over 65 years. Richard was surrounded by his loving daughter in the last hours of life.  

Richard was born on October 28th, 1937, to Lucy and Ernest Knights of Woodstock, ON. After finishing his grade 12 years, Richard had enlisted into the Royal Canadian Air Force where he served for the next 25 years, receiving the rank of Master Corporal and receiving the Canadian Forces Decoration medal of 12 years, along with other awards. Most of his service was in Moose Jaw at 15 Wing. In the 22nd year of service, he received orders to 12 Wing Shearwater in Halifax, Nova Scotia where he had retired. Right from his retirement Richard went into air conditioning and refrigeration at Saskatchewan Institute of Applied Science and Technology Kelsey in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, and after he worked for Simpson – Sears, and for a time was self-employed and also worked at Western Appliances. Richard was the type of person that loved to help, whether it was at his Church of St. Andrew's United or his family and friends.  

Richard is survived by his daughter, Carolyn; granddaughter, Kristina and her family Curtis, and great-grandsons: Connor, Kellen, and Declan, as well as his youngest sister, Barbara Kelso, and a host of other family members. Richard was predeceased by his loving wife, Margaret; parents, Lucy Kettle (Knights), Charlie Kettle and Ernest Knights; brother, Garry Knights; son, Paul (Anna); and grandsons, Bryon and Lorenzo.  

A Graveside Service to honor Richard will be held on Friday November 8th, 2024, at 4:00 p.m. at Rosedale Cemetery, 1804 Caribou St. West, Moose Jaw. The family is requesting that in lieu of flowers, donations in Richard's name be made to the Cancer Society, 200-325 Manning Road NE, Calgary, AB T2E 2P5.
