Clarence Rudulph Reutlinger was born on December 14, 1942, to John and Emma Reutlinger at St. James, Saskatchewan. He was the seventh of nine children. He attended Norwegian Grove School near St. James until grade 8. He worked for a local farmer before heading to British Columbia with his brother Ernie to work in the logging camps as a choker. He returned to the family farm each summer. After that, he spent the winters as a mucker at the mines in Flin Flon and Thompson, Manitoba.
In 1966, he met the love of his life, Margaret Rose Bassett, on a blind date. They married on April 19, 1969. They had three children, Trevor, Mervin and Lana. They lived on a farm by Lake Lenore, and he worked for a local farmer as well as farming his own land. They bought a farm in Naicam in 1982 and lived there until 1992. He also worked for a seed farmer in the area. Clarence and Margaret were active in the community with girl guides, boy scouts, and coaching sports. They later lived in Saskatoon, Blaine Lake, Pike Lake and currently in Vanscoy. One of the highlights of Clarence’s life was going on the Temperance Colony wagon train from Moose Jaw to Saskatoon in 1982.
Clarence loved sports. He played senior league hockey, loved to golf, play cards, and do puzzles. He had a competitive streak and won many a crokinole game. Clarence was very mechanically minded – a jack-of-all-trades and could fix anything. He was a hard worker, willing to help anyone in need. He was well loved and will be missed. Clarence is survived by his wife, Margaret; children Trevor (Val), Mervin and Lana (Chris). He was predeceased by his parents, John and Emma; his siblings Betty Lou, John, Bertha, Evelyn, and Margaret.
A Celebration of Clarence’s Life was held on March 15, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at Mourning Glory-Acadia McKague’s Funeral Centre, 915 Acadia Drive, Saskatoon.
