Unity's Panther pride evident as team heads to Western Canadians

Unity Panthers will play as Team Saskatchewan at Western Canadian U19 Fastpitch Championships Aug 5-7 in B.C.

UNITY--Capturing the U19 BW Softball Saskatchewan provincial title on home diamonds July 10 earned the Unity U19 Panthers the chance to play as Team Saskatchewan at the upcoming Western Canadian Championships held in Richmond, B.C.

There have been a number of Unity teams that have competed at the Western Canadian Championship level in both baseball and softball divisions, with several of those championships won by Unity teams, and are displayed on the walls of Unity’s Sports Wall of Fame at the Community Centre.

The U19 Panthers showed their strength during the provincial event July 9-10. The lineup is solid with consistent pitching and batting strength. As well, many of the players have played together all their minor ball days so the team has an excellent chemistry and know each other’s abilities well, which is a strong asset on defense.

The Panthers will play a round robin event against each team that includes host team, Richmond Islanders, BC1, Ride Meadows Rage, BC2, Clover Dale Fury, AB1 Elnora Eagles, AB2 Blackfalds Extreme, MB1, Manitoba Willies and MB2, Manitoba Thunder. Team Saskatchewan will kick off their competition with an 8 a.m. (B.C. time) game versus Manitoba Thunder on Aug. 4 and continue round robin play until the afternoon of Aug. 6. Tiebreakers, if needed, will begin at 3 p.m. (B.C.) time that same day with playoffs starting at 5. Semi-final and finals are set for Aug 7 at 10 and 1.

There will be no livestream, but you can follow the results on https://www.rgsa.ca/
