The Unity U18 Cardinals are looking to capture a provincial championship at their home diamonds Aug 13-15. The Cards are competing in the Saskatchewan U18 Tier 1 AA baseball provincial championships.
The team are coming off a silver medal win at league championships that took place in Regina Aug 6-8.
In an eight team event, the Cards are playing in Pool A with the Saskatoon Athletics, the Estevan Brewers and the North East Expos.
Their opening game was a slugfest that earned the Cardinals their first win against Saskatoon with a final score of 14-10. Their next two round robin games would be played on Saturday of the event, facing off against a strong Estevan team and contenders, North East Expos.
Plenty of fan support came out to the diamonds on a hot weekend, knowing this was the last ball event taking place in Unity for the season. The U18 Cards, who had played a remarkable season thus far, had their sights set on capturing a provincial championship in front of a home town crowd.
