For the second time this year, Luseland residents were asked to refrain from extensive water usage due to water plant problems.
Feb. 25, it was advised that residents reduce their water usage extensively as a crack on the inside wall of the reservoir was discovered. The work was completed the first week in March.
Aug. 14, residents were again advised through social media that they would need to exercise restraint in water use as a problem was discovered with one of the wells. The notice was sent out to ensure the town protected the water source, ensuring enough water was available for emergency use until the repair could be completed.
Mayor Kathy Wurz said, “The foreman noticed a problem as he was doing routine water testing."
A pin-hole size leak in a line at one of the wells was discovered. Crews were to attempt a patch but if that wasn’t sufficient, the pipe may need replacing. Mayor and council were to be updated the week of Aug. 16 as to how the problem will be need to be resolved.
