KERROBERT — The 2021-22 season for the senior Kerrobert Tigers was not the best showing the team had hoped for, ending near the bottom of the standings in the Sask. West Hockey League.
Assistant Coach and General Manager Brad Murphy, says, “We are optimistic about this year. We had some retirees off last year’s squad which opened some spots for a few, new local guys to try out the pace of the SWHL. We filled import spots with some quality players, and this improves our chance to make some noise in an incredibly talented senior hockey league.”
The Tigers roar into their season Nov. 5 facing off against the Wilkie Outlaws, which have proven to be strong opponents every year for any team playing them thus tagging them as “the team to beat.”
A new season brings a new driven mindset for players.
Murphy adds, “Ryan Schell is coaching again this year after a rookie learning season last year. We expect significant improvement in overall team success in both ends of the ice.”
“We had an early exhibition game as part of the fall festival that was held in town. We ran a social and comedian that same evening that was well attended and enjoyed. It is nice to be out in post-COVID restricted environment.”
The senior Tigers and Kerrobert Minor Hockey are jointly hosting a sportsman dinner and silent auction, featuring NHLer Bryan Trottier.
Community support has been a mainstay for the team and the club looks forward to more of the same for the upcoming season. The Tigers organization is looking forward to an exciting year of senior hockey and are looking for volunteers to help organize the gate and 50/50 workers.
