Football playoff season is here

Local teams and local players are entering playoff season for football

UNITY ‑ Local high schools have completed regular season and are now set up for playoff season, with the hopes of earning a spot at SHSAA provincial championship.

UCHS Warriors ended their season with a loss to Kerrobert. Coach Clark tells the Press-Herald, “Due to our loss to Kindersley earlier in Oct., they finished ahead of us in the 2A standings and will now host us on Oct. 22 for the first round of the playoffs. Kickoff is at 4:15 p.m. in Kindersley. Since we have some experience against Kindersley this season, this week will be about familiarizing ourselves with their offensive and defensive strategies and preparing a game plan to combat them.”

Kerrobert Rebels finished the regular season with four wins and one loss to Kindersley. The team will host a home playoff game against Macklin Oct. 23. Kickoff is at 1 p.m.

Macklin Sabres finished their season with three losses and two wins against Eatonia. The team will travel to Kerrobert Oct. 23 with kickoff time at 1 p.m.

Teams advancing out of this round are slated to play Oct. 30 in the beginning of playoff schedule with the opportunity to earn a provincial berth.
