Fall Fair upcoming in Luseland Sept. 10

The Luseland Credit Union Swimming Pool will stay open to Labour Day, Sept. 5.

With the exceptionally hot weather, the Luseland Credit Union Swimming Pool has had a super busy season, with many out-of-town people also supporting our facility. Dive Sask held a diving clinic on Aug, 6 and a Night at the Pool was held Aug,18. The movie night was followed by a midnight swim. The pool will be closing on Labour Day, Sept. 5.

The Luseland/Salvador Hall board committee had an online 50/50 fundraiser done through Rafflebox, which raised $5.050. The winner, Gary Clark of Luseland, took home $2,525. The hall committee is still trying to raise money for a much-needed boiler replacement and kitchen upgrades. Due to COVID and limited hall bookings over the past few years, it’s been a struggle to maintain and upkeep some of our most cherished recreational facilities.

The town was approached about the development of a dog park. Town council is currently working on coming up with a suitable location and working with a local volunteer group to make this possible. Stay tuned for more information at a later date.

The town of Luseland is once again hosting Team Flahrs with Flair in another MS Bike Ride in Luseland on Sept. 17. We are honoured to take part once again in the kick off to the race. If anyone is interesting in joining their team and riding in the Luseland event, please visit Flahrs with Flair Fundraising page on Facebook.

We are in the process of decommissioning the landfill east of Luseland. Regular garbage collection days will remain on Tuesdays and in between citizens will have access to Loraas bins that will be used for collection at the landfill. Clean wood and trees will also be accepted at our tree pit.  We will keep citizens informed of any changes or updates as we move through this process.

The town will also be painting the lines on Main Street and on the east grid redone near the end of August or sometime in early September. Please be reminded that we have a traffic bylaw and crossing the two centre yellow lines running down Main Street to park on the opposite side is an offence and will be ticketed.

The Luseland Community Development Committee is once again holding a fall fair Sept. 10. There are lots of events being planned such as activities for kids and the agricultural fair at the museum with judging on a variety of entries such as baking, vegetables, flowers, needlework, quilting and others. A supper is once again being planned and live entertainment. Stay tuned on our town Facebook page for further updates.

The Community Development Committee has also taken on the restoration of the old Kin Campground and has been busy cleaning up the day picnic building. It will be great to have this added amenity for passersby and to encourage people to stop when travelling by Luseland and check out what we all have to offer.

The Luseland Credit Union is hosting a Bounce Back to School event at the pool playground on Aug. 24 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. There will be free hotdogs, drinks and Freezies and some exciting prizes. Come celebrate and check out the new playground apparatus that was donated by the Luseland Credit Union. We are very lucky to have their continued support of so many facilities and organizations in the town of Luseland.
