Education week in the books for local schools

Bright Minds, Bright Futures was the theme for this year's Education Week, held Oct. 16-20.

UNITY — Staff and students throughout Living Sky School Division had a full week of fun and learning during Education Week. This year’s theme is Bright Minds, Bright Futures and each school chose ways to embrace that theme.

Unity Public School

Unity Public School took inspiration from two books, The Most Magnificent Thing and What To Do With a Box.

Staff and students collected empty boxes prior to Education Week, then students had the opportunity to design ‘magnificent things’ out of those boxes.

Each day, different activities allowed students to develop the ability to become critical thinkers. These skills will help students in the future with analyzing, questioning and developing.

The school was also excited to be able to hold a book fair again since 2019. There was a Dress as your favourite Barbie/Ken spirit day as well as two evenings where students could bring their families to the school to purchase some special treasures.

The school also recognized the bus drivers once students were safely delivered to the schools.

St. Peter’s School

Education Week was celebrated with spirit at St. Peter’s School by inviting grandparents and seniors for a few rounds of bingo Monday followed by jersey day Tuesday.

The staff of St. Peter’s School prepared the annual pancake breakfast for all the school families to enjoy Wednesday which also happened to be PJ Day. Thursday was Inside Out/Backwards Day as children had the option of wearing their clothes, hair and shoes inside out or backwards.

The week wrapped up with students wearing their Saints gear and gathering for a Living Rosary before the day was done.
