KERROBERT — This reporter can attest to the community commitment and personal investment Kerrobert’s recreation director has given residents in her eight-year tenure with the Kerrobert Recreation Department.
Bobbi Hebron made a heartfelt social media post announcing her resignation.
“For over eight years I proudly served this community with as much effort and heart as I could find in myself. It has been challenging and difficult at times but incredibly rewarding while working to meet the needs of the people. One would think that booking facilities and managing problems was the biggest part of this job but what I have discovered is that this position is about building and maintaining relationships.”
Hebron maintains that long-term committee members are the reason she stayed longer than planned, backed by their support, their honesty, their debates and their faith in her.
She acknowledged all the staff who helped her work through some of the many challenges they faced together. She voiced appreciation for families who trusted her with their teenagers in their first jobs.
“To the users of the facilities, thank you to those who communicated their ideas and concerns to me. Together with the recreation board, we had long conversations, sometimes until late in the night trying to solve problems and debate ideas. We welcomed your ideas and appreciated your concerns. We didn’t always have the answer, but we always worked hard to find the best one and we didn’t always say what you wanted to hear but we always strove to ensure that it was the best one for our community as a whole. “
Hebron also extended gratitude to Kerrobert volunteers, new and old, who provided inspiration. Just this week, the last week of June, eight people stepped up to start a pool committee when it was announced the existing pool was putting the longevity of the recreation venue in question.
Hebron will serve in her role for several more weeks before taking some holidays while helping someone new step into what she describes as the “greatest job in town.” Hebron has taken the position of librarian at Kerrobert Composite School.
“I hope I left the culture and recreation department just a little better than it was before and I hope I helped you to believe that this community can be incredible when we work together with transparency, positivity and with great communication. It has been a privilege serving you.”
Dozens of comments commending Hebron’s work were issued on the social media post. Words like, “There are not enough words to say how grateful we are for everything you have done, going above and beyond.” “Such an ambassador for Kerrobert.” “…you are a rockstar and will be missed.”
