Friends, family members, and supporters hold up posters during a walk in 2023 to raise awareness about the disappearance of Happy Charles in April 2017.

PRINCE ALBERT - Family and supporters hope a gathering planned for Thursday will help raise awareness that Happy Charles is still missing.

The public demonstration will take place outside the Prince Albert Police Service building at 45-15 St. W. in Prince Albert at 1 p.m.

“We have had broken promises, decreased (police) activity, and absolutely no investigation done on our case," said Happy Charles' stepfather, Carson Poitras in the news release. "We had a meeting last year with the Prince Albert Police Service (PAPS), and they assured us that our case would have renewed energy and new awareness campaigns implemented. To date, nothing has been done and there’s been very little communication with the PAPS since. This is unacceptable.”

This marks the eighth anniversary since Happy Charles disappeared.

The family said that Charles was last seen on April 3, 2017, when security camera footage captured her on campus at the Prince Albert Collegiate Institute at midnight.

Charles' family hope by gathering outside the PAPS site on Thursday it will be a show of solidarity and it will work to "pressure police to put renewed vigor into the search for Happy."

The Prince Albert Police Service previously said they continue to actively investigate the disappearance of Charles and are appealing to the public for information as to her whereabouts.

"Throughout the investigation, many people have been co-operative in providing statements and facts about the night of Ms. Charles’ disappearance. The Prince Albert Police Service urges anyone who has additional information, or who has been withholding information, to come forward and help the family of Ms. Charles find closure," police said.
