ZIMMERMAN: Mr. Larry Albert Zimmerman passed away peacefully on Friday, September 13, 2013 at the Battlefords Union Hospital. A Celebration of Life Service was held on Thursday, September 19, 2013 @ 2 p.m. from Third Avenue United Church with Reverend Fred Tinio officiating. Interment took place at the City of North Battleford Cemetery. The family has requested that memorial donations in memory of the late Mr. Larry Zimmerman be directed to the Canadian Cancer Society, 1141 101st Street North Battleford, SK, S9A 0Z5 or to the Battlefords Union Hospital Foundation, Box 1358, North Battleford, SK S9A 3L8. Arrangements have been entrusted to Trevor Watts of Eternal Memories Funeral Service and Crematorium. Condolences for the family may be left at is lovingly remembered by his wife, Dianna (Irvine) Zimmerman; mother, Odile (Creurer) Zimmerman; daughter, Shannon (Zimmerman) Rangel and her sons, Joshua and Jacob; son, Jason (Marcie) Zimmerman and their daughter Sophie; son, Tristan Zimmerman; Jim (Cheryl) Irvine, Kathy (Layne) Magnusson and Cindy (Michael) Kulchisky; siblings, Dennis (Dianna) Zimmerman , brother-in-law, Jon Arnett, Joyce Zimmerman (Graydon), Robert (Donna) Zimmerman, Joan (Wayne) Wappel, Allan (Janice) Zimmerman, Maurice Zimmerman, Marie (Raymond) Sitter, Brian (Lorna) Zimmerman, James (Laura) Zimmerman, Ann (Richard) Reed, Roger Zimmerman, Renee (Andrew) Frolek, Daniel Zimmerman; 6 step grandchildren; 3 step great grandchildren; 22 nieces and nephews; and 5 great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, Herman Zimmerman and sister, Linda (Zimmerman) Arnett. Larry was the second child out of 15. He was born in Humboldt, Sask, on November 14, 1948. He went to school in St. Gregor and Tisdale until he was 12, then the family moved to North Battleford. He went to Notre Dame school and graduated from St. Thomas College. He started working for the Department of Highways when he was 18 in 1967. After graduation he took one year of collage arts and sciences at St. Peter's College in Meunster, Sask. He attended the University of Regina where he received his commission as a Saskatchewan Land Surveyor. He worked in operations for 5 years, then in 1973 Larry was transferred to the Legal Surveys Branch of the Department of Highways where he worked on a legal survey crew as a chairman, and later as an instrument man. Larry decided to article under Morley Seis as a Saskatchewan Land Surveyor and received his commission # 232 in June 1980 as a Saskatchewan Land Surveyor. Larry moved back to North Battleford 10 years ago after he retired and that is where he met Dianna. He worked for Tri-City Surveys for another few years, then Larry and Dianna purchased a piece of land and developed it into a beautiful acreage. Larry's passion in life besides Dianna was his three children and his grandchildren, and playing guitar. Larry wrote songs for Dianna, he loved hockey and snowmobiling and playing cards. Dianna was a ski instructor and taught Larry how to ski and he just loved it. Fishing was a highlight for both of them. For Larry's birthday, Dianna surprised him with tickets to go see his kids in Texas. Larry said that was the best present that he ever could have received. We will miss him deeply and he will always be in our hearts. Love You Larry.
