WARTMAN: Reverend G. Bruce. Born December 10, 1918 in Wilkie, Saskatchewan; died following a brief illness on April 25, 2011 in Edmonton Alberta. Bruce was predeceased by his parents Wilfred and Blanche Wartman (nee Harkness) and his two elder brothers Dave (Florence) and Ed (Doris). Bruce is survived by his loving wife and partner of 63 years Frances Mary (nee Robertson), their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren - David Wartman and Katherine van Kooy and daughters Brianna and Kiera Wartman; Mark and Gail Wartman and their children Alaina and Jeff Harrison and Daniel Wartman; Janet and Paul Fung and their children Nathan and Terry Fung and grandchildren Ella and Addy; Trevor Fung and Alyssa Pickering; and Gordon and Elaine Wartman and their children Luke and Kayla. For some 40 years Bruce was a United Church minister serving congregations in Hudson Bay Junction, Kelvington, Assiniboia, Kindersley, North Battleford and Regina, Saskatchewan and Armstrong, B.C. During that time he also held a variety of elected and appointed positions with General Counsel and the Saskatchewan Conference including serving a term as President of Conference. In the early 1970's he was also appointed by the Government of Saskatchewan to Chair the Saskatchewan Senior Citizens Commission. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, May 1st at 7:00 p.m. at McClure United Church, 4025 Taylor Street East in Saskatoon. In lieu of flowers, please make a memorial donation to the St. Andrew's College elevator fund or to the Mission and Service Fund of the United Church of Canada. ____________________________________________________
