TADY: John 'Jack' Walter Tady - November 14, 1928-September 17, 2013. Family and friends gathered to celebrate Jack's life on September 21. He is remembered as an excellent listener - if you had a story, Jack had a non-judgmental ear for you, not to mention a cup of coffee or a shot of whiskey. He was famous for baking; most family suppers included several varieties of pies, as Jack made sure everyone had their favourite, and his waffles and Christmas pudding are legendary. Jack understood that his special recipes brought family and friends together. Our memories are less of the treats (as delicious as they were) and more of the many, many weekends, holidays, and regular Sunday evenings spent together, strengthening our family bond. Those traditions will continue. Jack's treasure in life was his family. He and his wife Bernadette raised seven children, who then made Jack a proud grandfather to 15 loving grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren: Joan (Lyle) and their children, Jordan (Kerilyn) and Aidan, Natalie, and Lydia, and Wade (Tracy) Voigt; Dale (Maureen) and their children, Shawn (Sara)Tady, and Erin (Glenn) and Gibson and Griffin Odishaw; Bev (Brian) Lampitt and their children, Jennifer (Sheldon) and Jordyn and Luke Friedt, Kelly (Kyle) and Elin Weber, and Brennan Lampitt (Alana, Rio & Eve Tucker); Doug (Susan) Tady and their children, Dustin (Kelly) and Kian and Kahl McLean, and Drew Tady; Cheryl (Kolin) and their children, Jaycee and Becky Bulmer; Shannon (Jim) and their children, James and Adam Banks; Gregg (Kerilee) and their children, Jackson and Mishele Tady. After Bernadette passed away suddenly in 1986, Jack met Joyce Chmelnyk, who has been his loving companion for the past 26 years. Jack opened his heart to Joyce's family as well, including Terry (Amber); Kenny (Penny); and Randy (Darlene) Chmelnyk and their families, as well as the families of Bobby and Eddy Chmelnyk, who have passed away. Jack is survived by his sister, Lois Tady; brothers-in-law John Strautman and Pat Bolan; sisters-in-law Terry (Vince) Verrastro, Angie (Miro) Worobetz, and Dorothy Murray; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and his special friends Terry and Patti Lumsdon and Pat Germann. He is predeceased by his wife, Bernadette (Bolan) Tady; father John Tady and mother Clara (Iverson) Tady; sister Marion Rimmer and brother-in-law Don Rimmer; sister Laura Strautman and brother Dennis Tady; and brother-in-law Bob Murray. The family would like to thank Bob MacKay and The Battlefords Funeral Service for the funeral arrangements, particularly for the very special farewell. Thank you to all relatives and friends who have sent their condolences and gifts of food and flowers. Memorials can also be sent to the Battlefords Union Hospital Foundation Inc. - Palliative Care Unit (Box 1358, North Battleford, SK, S9A 3L8) or to a cause of your choice. Jack retired as a conductor with CN in 1990, but trains and whistles will forever remind us of him. We'll always think of you when we feel the ground shake, engine rumble, and hear that whistle blow! ____________________________________________________
