SCHMIDT: In Loving Memory Of William "Bill" Schmidt who was born June 24, 1929 at Maymont, SK and passed away April 3, 2013 at Battleford, SK. Bill is survived by his son's William "Lee" Schmidt (Karen) and David Schmidt (Betty Wood); grandchildren: Mandy Lantz, Wade Schmidt (Jennifer), Loni Legault (Lou); great-grandchildren: Rylee Prescesky, Chase Prescesky, Reese Lantz; brothers: Wes Schmidt, Don Schmidt (Carole), Garry Schmidt (Carolyn); brothers-in-law: John Couch, Joe Winkler, Paul Beausoleil (Carolyn); sisters-in-law: Thelma Schmidt, Florence Beausoleil, Carolin Beausoleil; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Bill was predeceased by loving wife Della "Dale" Schmidt (2009); grandson-in-law, Darcy Lantz; brother, Ron Schmidt; parents: Vern & Ida Schmidt; in-laws: William & Leva Beausoleil; brothers-in-law: Joe, Virgel, Harry, Lawrence & Elmer Beausoleil; Raymond Baillargeon, Joe Koopman, Tommy Bryant, George Carriere; sisters-in-law: Doreen Schmidt, Lorraine Couch, Norma Bryant, Doris Winkler, Jean Koopman, Noella Baillargeon, Therese Carriere & Fern Beausoleil. A Celebration of Life was held Saturday, April 6, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. from Maymont Memorial Hall, Maymont, SK. "A time to remember Bill by celebrating his life with shared memories, music, tears and laughter" Gifts of music by Robert MacKay: "Beyond The Sunset" with accompanist Colleen Soule. An Honor Guard was present of Staff and Volunteers - Western Development Museum, North Battleford, SK. Honorary Pallbearers were Ernie & Elsie Voegeli, Ken Zaleschuk, Ernie & Eleanor Voegeli, Bill Sherlock, Herman & Colleen Soule, Jon Sloan & Mitch Bandur. The Active Pallbearers were Wade Schmidt, Bill Melrose, Russell Beaudoin, Mark Melrose, Dale Beaudoin and Neil Milman. Memorials are requested to the Canadian Cancer Society or The Western Development Museum, Box 183, North Battleford, SK. S9A 2Y1. Interment followed at Garden Of Devotion, Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, North Battleford, SK with Wilbert Basler, St. Vital Parish, Battleford, SK Presider. Card of Thanks THANK-YOU from the Schmidt family for the phone calls, hugs, flowers and donations to the Western Development Musuem and Cancer Society. Thanks to everyone for attending the Celebration of Life, especially the ones that shared their memories of Bill at the service. A big Thanks to the BDCC staff for the loving care they provided Bill since January 2011 making it his home away from home. Thanks to Wilbert Basler for presiding at the family Interment, Maymont Hall committee for setting out the lunch, Colleen Soule for playing the piano and Bev Shumlich for all her help before and during the service and of course Bob MacKay and the staff at Battleford's Funeral Service for the compassionate service they provide during this difficult time. Bob you have always been there for our family, thank-you for singing and most of all for just being there for us any time of day. A sincere thank-you to Loni Legault for your loving, compassionate care you gave Grandpa in his last hours. Special thanks to the Honor Guard- Western Development Museum staff and volunteers, the Honourary Pallbearers, and Active Pallbearers, you were all like family to Bill. We know Bill loved all the visitors at BDCC, it put a smile on his face. From the bottom of our hearts Thank-you for taking the time to visit and making the adjustment of living away from home easier for Bill. When you see a jet stream you know that Bill is back in his pilot seat, soaring over checking up on his loved ones and friends.
