SCHLEKEWY: Robert Louis Schlekewy of St. Walburg passed away on Saturday, September 8, 2012 at the age of 59 years. Robert Louis Schlekewy was born on March 29, 1953, in St. Walburg to Louis and Rose Schlekewy. He passed away on September 8, 2012 at the age of 59. He attended school in St. Walburg until the age of 16. He didn't like school, so he quit and set out into the work force. Robert started out at Wagner's logging camp in Hinton, AB, and then moved on to Nelson Lumber in Lloydminster. He finally settled back home in St. Walburg and began farming. While farming, Robert picked up the mail delivery route from St. Walburg to Onion Lake. He took pride in his work and liked to do things the proper way, a perfectionist in his own way. He was a proud member of the Legion and of the Ag Society. Robert was also on the library board and he enjoyed bowling in his spare time. Robert cherished his nieces and nephews. He loved you all. We will miss you Uncle Bob. Robert was predeceased by: his father, Louis (1982); his grandparents, Matt and Ann Schlekewy, Andrew and Rosa Bolig; and numerous Aunts, Uncles and cousins. He is survived by: his mother, Rose Schlekewy and her special friend Ed Bunz; his siblings, Rosemarie Schlekewy (Clifford Fergason), Joanne Schlekewy (Ron Harris), Madeline Smith and her children, Chad Smith, Corine Smith-White (Darren) and their son Lawson, Dorothy Schlekewy and her son Dean (Jill) Schlekewy, Shirley (Norman) Passmore, Jim Schlekewy, Donna (Clinton) Gory, John (Sandra) Schlekewy and their children, Kelsi and Jodi, and Geraldine (Herb) Giesbrecht and their children, Raya, Calla and Alana. The Vigil of Prayer for Robert was conducted from the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in St. Walburg on Wedesnday, September 12, 2012 at 7:30 p.m. with Reverend Father Richard Doll officiating. The Funeral Service was held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 13, 2012 at the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in St. Walburg with Reverend Father Richard Doll officiating. The Pallbearers were: Chad Smith, Dean Schlekewy, Clinton Gory, Norman Passmore, Gary Cooper and Rolly Larre. The honorary bearers were Members of the St. Walburg Legion, and All of Robert's Friends. Glenda Volk gave the eulogy, Cindy Schlekewy played the organ and Jenny Looshorn was the soloist. Dennis Schlekewy and Ron Schlekewy were the church readers. Interment followed in the St. Walburg Catholic Cemetery. MARSHALL'S FUNERAL HOME LTD. of St. Walburg, Saskatchewan administered the funeral arrangements. CARD OF THANKS The family of Robert Schlekewy would like to thank all of our family, friends and neighbours for the support and caring during this difficult time. Thank you to Gordon and the staff at Marshall's Funeral Home, Reverend Father Richard Doll, the Pallbearers, Cindy Schlekewy for the music, the soloist Jenny Looshorn, the Church Choir, Glenda Volk for the eulogy, Dennis and Ron Schlekewy for doing the readings, Brian Schlekewy and Ryan Larre for being the ushers, and to the CWL for the beautiful lunch. Thank you to everyone for the phone calls, cards, food, flowers, donations and emails sent to our homes. And last of all, thank you to everyone who came to the service.
