PERRET ; Norain Arretha Perret passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 7, 2012, at Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon, SK, with family at her side after a courageous three-year battle with cancer and COPD. She is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Amedee; son, Jody (wife: Tracey; children: Shane, Ryan, Courtney, Brody); son, Jason (children: Derek, Sophia); sister, Karen (Glen Glazier); seven nieces/nephews; and many dear life-long friends. At Norain's request, there will be no funeral service. Norain was born in Cutknife, SK, on May 26, 1939, the eldest of three daughters to Almer and Sarah Hampton. She was predeceased by her parents and youngest sister, Terry (George Life). At the age of 19, Norain met the love of her life, Amedee, at the roller rink in North Battleford. They married July 25, 1959, and adopted two sons, Jody (in 1968) and Jason (in 1969). They made their home in North Battleford/Battleford for many years, where Norain worked as a daycare operator and later as a receptionist in real estate and then in a doctor's office; while Amedee worked in construction. As a family, they treasured their time at the lake; and in 1981, they relocated to a creek-front property in Cochin, SK. Over a period of 10 years, they toiled away and finished their family home. It was during this time that Norain's many talents came to the forefront; and she was fondly dubbed, "Ralph", the plumber/electrician/carpenter, etc. She was extremely driven and capable and saw a multitude of projects through to completion. She was also an excellent organizer/project manager and coordinated many week-end projects when sons/family came to visit. Norain was full of life and created many fond memories for family (e.g. waking grown children Christmas morning because Santa had been there; cooking favourites for visiting children/ grandchildren). She was also known for her keen sense of humour - and incredible hearing ability, (e.g. she could hear Grandpa Frenchie unwrapping a candy two rooms away). She was a creative and talented seamstress; she enjoyed knitting/crocheting; and she was an excellent cook. She left us with a wonderful legacy of her favourite dishes entitled, "Cochin Cabin Recipes". Even through her sickness, Norain retained her sense of humour and would joke with the medical professionals; and at times, coach them through her health regime. As a family, we would like to extend a sincere thanks to all those involved in her care. Norain was blessed with some lifelong friends; and she treasured those special friendships. She was a beautiful and self-less person who gave freely of herself and made everyone feel welcome in her home. She will be loved and missed forever by all who knew her. _____________________________________________________________
