She grew up on a farm with her family just south of Mullingar,Sk. She attended school in the Mullingar & Mayfair Districts, graduating in 1963. She then attended the Marvel Beauty School for Hairdressing in Saskatoon. After hairdressing school, she married Ken Sorensen from Mayfair. They made their first home in Carlton, Sk. and had many moves after that. A family soon started with Barbara being the first born in 1965. Three years later, in 1968, Brenda was born. Four years after Brenda, in 1972, Bonetta came along and then Bernadette arrived in 1974. Millie always kept herself busy. While living in Mullingar, along with being a mother of 4 busy little girls, she was involved with the local 4-H club with various activities, including teaching sewing. Curling was a much enjoyed hobby, where they took part in bonspiels as was being involved with the local CB club. Hairdressing stayed part of her life as well. She would cut not only her family's hair but also some locals and later on, for some elderly clients she met with home care. She was employed with Canada Post as a postmaster in Mullingar where she worked until about 1983. At that time she made a move to North Battleford. She tried a few different jobs such as sewing at Baker's Fine Furs, and working for Census Canada, finally ending up with Home Care as a home health aide until her retirement. She was known as a very dedicated home health aide, well liked by staff and all her clients. She took pride in her work as well as her appearance to others ensuring she looked professional, such as making sure her clothing was pressed everyday. Being part of groups and helping out people was an important part of her life. Volunteering her time was common She was a member of the Legion Ladies Auxilliary, where she helped with bearing flags in parades, forming honor guard and making meals for different functions as well as helping at Battleford's District Care with their Bingo days and serving ice cream to residents. As well she was a Union Rep for Home Care. On top of this, she helped out all of her girls with things in their lives, such as babysitting grandchildren. Being involved with the Minus One Club was another fun hobby. She loved to dance. Every Saturday, her and her new partner Charlie would go to dances, in North Battleford and Biggar. Sunday drives out to her parents cabin at Trevessa Beach, out to Mullingar to see the old family farm house and to check out Meeting Lake was another fun past time which she enjoyed with Charlie. They travelled on a few trips together , such as a trip to Nova Scotia for the first time, to meet her mom's extended family. She really enjoyed that trip. They travelled to Alaska and BC as well. With one BC trip taken together with two of her children, her parents and brother David and his family. Family gatherings was something she really enjoyed, whether it was supper at Christmas and Thanksgiving with family , attending her Auntie's 100th birthday party or including her extended family in her life somehow. Millie was a soft spoken, polite, dedicated and heartwarming person who was well liked and respected . She will be missed greatly by family, friends and all who knew her.
