A special thank you to the staff at River Heights Lodge for the love and care given to our mother. Mabel was born on the family farm near Fairholme, SK on December 13, 1914 to Martin and Anna Arnesen. She was the fourth of seven children. She attended one-room schools in the district and later moved to North Battleford. She married Roy McMillan on December 31, 1938 and went to live in Bankfield, ON where he was working in a gold mine. They moved back to North Battleford in 1942 and lived in a house on Richard St. They built a house at 1502 Edward St in 1946 and lived there until 1956 when they moved to the new house at 1891 Frederick St. Danny was born in 1946 and Roddy in 1949 and many happy and busy years followed. As the years passed and the family matured, the routine became six months at the cabin at Cochin and the rest of the year in Yuma, AZ. Roy passed away in 1982 and Mabel returned to Yuma each year until she felt that it was just too much for her to handle by herself; so she sold the AZ property and moved into an apartment in North Battleford. She later moved into Valley View Towers #1 and then into River Heights Lodge where she resided until her death. She was a much loved daughter, sister, wife, mother and grandmother and will always be remembered for her kindness to others and her sense of humour which never left her. She will be sorely missed by her family and friends. The Funeral Service was held Friday, August 2, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. from St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, North Battleford, SK with Rev. Evan Bottomley, officiating. Shared Memories given by Daniel McMillan and Music Ministry included Bonnie Phillips - Organist; Robert MacKay - Soloist -"The Old Rugged Cross" and Hymn Selections "Rock Of Ages", "Abide With Me" and "In The Garden". The Urn Bearer was Brandt McMillan. Memorials are requested to a Charity of the donor's choice. Interment followed at City Cemetery, North Battleford, SK. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Battlefords Funeral Service. (306) 446-4200 ____________________________________________________
