MCEWEN: Richard Stuart McEwen May 20, 1931-September 26, 2011 Richard (Dick) McEwen passed away at St. Paul's Hospital in Saskatoon on September 26, 2011. He grew up on a farm near Riverhurst, Sk, the youngest of seven children born to Allan and Jeannie Mae(Hope) McEwen. He was predeceased by his parents, a sister Isabelle and brothers Finlay, Cameron and Gordon. He is survived by his sister Audrey Stephens in Balcarres, his brother Donald (Barbara) in Saskatoon and numerous nieces and nephews. Following high school, Richard joined the RCMP and spent 10 years in postings in British Columbia. He then began operating the family farm and enrolled at the University of Saskatchewan where he earned Economics and MBA degrees. After some years with the Saskatchewan Land Bank and the Farm Ownership Board he became a building Contractor in Saskatoon. His final business challenge was as owner and director of the Western College of Business in North Battleford for several years. Following retirement in 1991, Richard began annual trips to the southern United States where he spent many pleasant winters .There will be a memorial gathering for family and friends at 11:00 am, Friday September 30 in the Nutana Park church, 1701 Ruth St. E in Saskatoon. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Paul's Palliative Care unit would be appreciated. ____________________________________________________
