I am very honored to share the Celebration of Jasmina's Life with you. I am her Canadian sister. I met this wonderful family last December (2010) when they moved in next door to my parent's home. They were all sitting in their van just ready to drive away when I went running over & introduced myself & welcomed them to Canada. That day changed my life forever & I never imagined in such a short time of getting to know the Maslovski's how we became family. Jasmina earned her Angel Wings on January 15, 2012. She is now free of pain & our Guardian Angel is watching over us. She was born & raised in a small town aprox 7000 people in Vrbas, Serbia. She was the 1st born - November 8, 1977 to the proud parents, Dusanka & Meodrug Popovic. She became a big sister at almost the age of 3 - Marijana was born September, 1980. The family was complete in October, 1981 when Zorica arrived. Jasmina was a very strong-willed girl that was very protective of her little sisters. At the young age of 7 she started Serbian Cultural Dance and loved listening to Serbian Country music. Reflecting back, her mother said " she was a very happy-go-lucky girl with a funny sense of humour. She was very much a social butterfly that would light up a room with her presence. In school, she was known as the class clown & loved to make people laugh". Jasmina met the love of her life in an old fashioned manner. The story goes as thisShe was 16 years old. One day Jasmina & her mother, Dusanka went for a walk, as they were walking in front of Vladimir's house his mother was outside. They chatted & she invited them in for coffee. So.. they did go in and there sat Vladimir at the kitchen table. Jasmina made sure she sat in the chair closest to him ..where she slowly moved herself closer & closer, nudging herself towards him, so their arms were touching. She quite liked this young man. They had a few dates after that visit over coffee - wouldn't you know it they fell in love & 1 month after they met they exchanged wedding vows on February 25, 1995. Life was greatthen 15 months later they were blessed with a beautiful baby girl, Aleksandra. She became a proud big sister when Stanko was born in July, 1998. Their family was complete December 2006 when little Mea arrived. Jasmina and Vladimir made a huge decision and moved their family to Canada June 25, 2009 for a better life for their children. Jasmina was graceful, kind, compassionate and brave beyond measure. She was a very special lady with deep faith, strong will and determination to fight to the end. She had some very special dates to be here for. Mea's 5th birthday in Dec / Sebian Christmas Jan. 7, and New Years Jan. 14. She even had a sparkle in her eyes as we toasted and gave kisses at the stroke of midnight at New Years. Amazing strength and what a hero is how I remember her! She was taken to hospital New Years day and was called to heaven the next day. She loved her family unconditionally. She was a proud daughter, wife, mother, sister, auntie & friend. Jasmina has a very large family and many friends back home in Serbia and neighboring countries that are praying for her family at this time. She leaves behind her dear mother, Dusanka; mother-in-law, Julijana Maslovski; two sisters Marijanna and her husband, Day Yun and their daughters, Day Yunna and Yo Anna and Zurica and her husband, Alexander and their sons, Nicola and Nememanya as well as a brother-in-law in France, Andrej Maslovski. The Maslovski family would like to give a huge heartfelt thank you for all your prayers and outstanding support from the community through this very difficult time.
