LESSARD, Arthur Joseph - Was born on June 19, 1944 in North Battleford, SK, the third child to Omer and Alice (Picard) Lessard. He was raised on a farm near Delmas SK and received his education at nearby Tulip Country School. He also attended St. Thomas School in North Battleford for one year. Arthur met Delores Duhaime in the fall of 1963 and they married on June 9, 1964 in Lloydminster SK. Together they had 5 children, Rolland Omer, Daniel Arthur, Lorette Alice, Lorraine Cheryl and Lorilee Marie. After leaving school Arthur held numerous jobs, farming, working in a lumber mill, and doing heavy equipment operating. The last 13 years he worked as a grader operator with Torch River RM #488 until the time of his passing. Arthur was predeceased by his parents Omer and Alice Lessard and father and mother-in-law Hector and Aurore Duhaime, brother Lionel Lessard, brother-in-law Leo Grosjean, nephew-in-law Neil McCarthy and Grandson Jessie Didyk. Arthur is survived by his wife Delores (Duhaime) Lessard, his children Rolland (Dona), Daniel (Stephanie), Lorette (Dean) Atkinson, Lorraine (Sean) Sweeney, and Lorilee Lessard; 11 grandchildren Rebecca, Jordan, Chelsea, Chad, Rylan, Kyle, Dylan, Elicia, Braddly, Matthew and Brandon; 3 step grandchildren Eric, Brian and Jordan; 5 great-grandchildren Landon, Drake, Oceana, Kayleigh and Makayla; 5 step great-grandchildren Skyla, Tucker, Austyn, Sean and Dominic; sister Rita Grosjean; In-laws Louise (Jim) Doom, Germaine (Art) Dajernais, Frank (Judith) Duhaime, Marcel (Annette) Duhaime, Jeanette (George) Brusseau, Maurice (Sylvia) Duhaime, Robert (Brenda) Duhaime, Albert (Emma) Duhaime, Roger (Katie) Duhaime and Bernadette Duhaime. Also left to cherish his memory are Donna Bird Lessard and Dan and Juanita Smith (Keisha and Colton) as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and friends. On January 30th, 2014 Arthur passed away in the Nipawin Hospital. A memorial service was held on Tuesday, February 4th, 2014 at 2:00 PM in the St. Eugene Roman Catholic Church with Pastor George Canto officiating. Arthur Lessard's creamains will be laid to rest on June 17th 2014 at the Battleford Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. Father G. Elder will be officiating.
