LAMBIE --- John (Jock) Lambie of North Battleford, SK, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 12, 2011 at River Heights Lodge five weeks short of 102 years of age.

LAMBIE --- John (Jock) Lambie of North Battleford, SK, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 12, 2011 at River Heights Lodge five weeks short of 102 years of age. Born at Bothwell Castle farm, Scotland, on August 19, 1909, Jock emigrated to Canada at 20 years of age to work as a farmhand in the Spinney Hill area. He married Elizabeth Johnston on June 14, 1934 and farmed in the area. In 1939 he enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force and served as an aeroengine mechanic. After the war the family moved to Fielding, SK where he worked as a mechanic. In 1953 the family moved to North Battleford, SK where Jock worked for Gladwell Motors and then Morrison's Garage until his retirement. A journeyman carpenter, electrician and mechanic, Jock built their own home and two family cottages at Murray Lake as well as renovations for family and friends. Jock was a self-educated lifelong learner who lived his life to the fullest, taking up sailing and swimming during his retirement. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Left to cherish Great Grandpa Jock's memory are his loving family: sons, Lionel (Judith) , Saskatoon, SK and their children Scott (Cheryle), Sean and Lynn (Gerard) Ackerman, and Wayne (Sharon), North Battleford, SK and their children Trevor, Tracey (Heath Miller) and Shelley (Bruce Slemp); great-grandchildren Aaron, Ashley, Chazlyn, and Hunter Lambie, Ethan Lambie, Patrick, Jennifer, Jessica, and Sarah Ackerman, Alyssa and Madison Lambie, Gracie and Livia Miller; brother-in-law, Doug Johnston, Swift Current, SK, sister-in-law, Gladys Johnston, Prince Albert, SK; nephew, John (Margaret) Lambie, Scotland; numerous other nieces and nephews. Jock was predeceased by his wife of 64 years, Elizabeth (Bessie) Beattie Lambie; his parents, his brother, William and his sister, Jessie ; numerous sisters and brothers-in-law; and two great-grandsons. The family has requested in lieu of flowers that donations to the memory of John Lambie may be made to River Heights Lodge Auxiliary, 2001 - 99th Street, North Battleford, SK, S9A 0S3. A Private Family Service of interment will take place at the City of North Battleford Cemetery at a later date.
