HRABIA: Helen Marie Hrabia, of North Battleford, Saskatchewan, passed away peacefully at the Villa Pascal on Saturday, September 21, 2013 at the age of 83. Helen was born on April 29, 1930 in Dana, Saskatchewan to parents, Nick and Maria Peri. She was the second youngest of 3 boys and 7 girls. After leaving Dana in her teen years, she lived with her sister Nellie in Sandwith. That is where she met and fell in love with Roy, her husband of 64 years. Roy and Helen settled on the family farm in the Hatherleigh district. Mom loved her flowers and her garden and took pride in the fact that not a weed could be found amongst her plants. She loved to sew and there will be many of her famous potholders around for many years to remind us of her. Many hands of Kaizer were dealt by her hands and it was hard to beat her at that game. She spent many hours enjoying watching the dozens of hummingbirds fighting with the bees outside the living room window at the farm. Roy and Helen sold the farm in 2008 and moved to North Battleford to make their new home in the high rise tower where Mom enjoyed the view of the river valley and train tracks. She moved to Villa Pascal in May 2012 where she received the most excellent care from the staff there. Left to cherish Helen's memory are her loving husband Roy, her children Ralph (Debbie), Alvin (Shelley), Jo-Ann (Bob Doyle), Jerry (Shirley), Dale (Brenda); 5 grandchildren (Cori, Nicole, Kyle, Allan, Destiny), 3 great-grandchildren (Caleb, Tyrell, Brettley); her sisters Pauline Green and Ann Weisensel both of Manitoba and several nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her parents, 3 brothers and 4 sisters. At Helen's request, a private family service will be held with interment at a later date. Memorials are requested to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Arrangements entrusted to Battlefords Funeral Service. Card of Thanks The family would sincerely like to thank the staff of Villa Pascal for the excellent care and friendship that they provided Helen, all her family and friends for your thoughts and prayers, and Battlefords Funeral Service for their compassionate service. ____________________________________________________
