HAMEL ~ Florence Elizabeth May Russett Hamel passed away at Villa Pascal, North Battleford, Saskatchewan on Monday, March 31, 2014 at the age of ninety-five years. Florence was born in Edam, Saskatchewan on May 12, 1918 to Maude and Alvin Weitzel. Florence leaves to mourn her passing, her nine children: Cecilia (Roger) Ferron, Rita Greening, Carol Croteau, Gerald (Julie) Russett, Clifford (Marian) Russett, Pat (Judy) Russett, Andy (Marilyn) Russett, Matthew (Linda) Russett and Barb (Elias) Bulhoes; forty-eight grandchildren and more than one hundred and fifty great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Lois Ferron and Margaret Bekolay; and one brother, Howard Weitzel. Florence was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Russett; three brothers, Floyd, Roy and Charlie Weitzel; one granddaughter, Theresa Ferron; one grandson, James Greening; two sons-in-law, Dennis Greening and Rodger Croteau; and grandson-in-law, Jay Fox. The prayer vigil for Florence was conducted on Thursday, April 3, 2014 at 7:00 P.M. from Christ The King Roman Catholic Church, Edam, Saskatchewan. The funeral service for Florence was conducted from Christ The King Roman Catholic Church, Edam, Saskatchewan on Friday, April 4, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. with Father Peter Paase officiating assisted by Gerard Legaspi. Darryl Greening and Angela Fox gave the eulogy. The hymns sung were, "Prayer of St. Francis" and "All That I Am" accompanied by the Jackfish Church Choir. The honorary pallbearers were all those in attendance as well as a C.W.L. Honor Guard. The active pallbearers were Leon Ferron, George Greening, Greg Croteau, Ronald Russett, Shawn Russett, Tracy Russett, Randy Russett, Colin Russett and Joe Bulhoes. Interment was held in the Edam Catholic Cemetery, Edam, Saskatchewan. Donations in memory of Florence may be made to Villa Pascal, North Battleford. McCaw Funeral Service Ltd. of Lloydminster, Alberta administered the funeral arrangements.
