HAGERTY: Marie Simone Gabrielle: April 9, 1916 - May 13, 2013. With deep sadness we announce that Gabrielle (Gaby) passed away peacefully at The Battlefords District Care Centre, Battleford, SK. She was a wonderful wife, sister, aunt and friend. Left to cherish her memory are her sister, Lillian (Alex) Blondeau of Abbotsford, BC; nieces and nephews: Gilles (Yvette) Francoeur, Larry (Anita) Francoeur, Sylvie (Cliff) Schockey, Albert (Carol) Francoeur, Robert Francoeur, Ronald Francoeur, Suzanne Francoeur, Alin Fox, Lucille (Peter) Dunn and Alain Blondeau. She was predeceased by her parents: Pierre & Noelie Savard; her husband, Tom Hagerty; brother, Rene (Opal) Savard; sisters: Antoinette (John) Olafson, Evelyn (Gerard) Francoeur, Rita Savard and Lucienne (Lionel) Francoeur. Gaby was born at Shell River, SK. She was a woman of generosity and passion. Her years working at the Saskatchewan Hospital were her joy! She loved to travel with Tom to see the world. Gaby loved to decorate and work with material and pictures. Her family wish to express heartfelt thanks to Dr. Jim Johnson and the Nurses and Staff at The Battlefords District Care Centre for your kindness and compassionate care. Mass of Christian Burial was held Thursday, May 16, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. from St. Vital Roman Catholic Church, Battleford, SK with her dear friend, Fr. Greg Elder, Celebrant. The Cross Bearer was Alain Blondeau. The Eulogist was Sylvie Francoeur-Schockey. Liturgy Of the Word: Scripture Readers - Yvette Francoeur and Tanya Adolf; The Responsorial Psalm was sung by the Choir; Fr. Greg read the Gospel lesson followed by his personal and memorable Homily; Prayer of The Faithful was given by Lisa Kreese; Liturgy Of The Eucharist: Gifts of Bread and Wine were presented by Margaret Kite and Bernice Oborowsky. Music for the Mass was sung by St. Vital Parish Choir, under the leadership of Cathy Swerid, Director and Pianist with 'special gifts of music' sung by Gilles Francoeur: "Do This In Memory Of Me" and "Release Me To God". St. Vital Catholic Womens League formed the Honour Guard and, in Tribute to Gaby, gave the C.W.L. Prayer. Memorial donations are requested to The Canadian Cancer Society. Private Interment took place Friday, May 17, 2013 at the Catholic Section - Town Of Battleford Cemetery, Battleford, SK.
