Also predeceasing her were her parents, George and Nancy Johnston, brothers Stan (Nellie), Tom (Gladys), Ed, Len and Bob and sisters Florence (Louis Stranzel), Irene (John Harkness), Kay (Albert Astle). Evelyn is lovingly remembered by her daughter Marilyn (Ed) Lindberg of Edmonton, AB and her son Warren Ballsrud of Abbotsford. She will be fondly remembered by numerous relatives and friends across Canada and the Ballsrud family in the USA. Evelyn was born at Richard, SK but was raised in the Rabbit Lake area. She farmed with her husband Luth at Maymont, SK for 26 years until they moved to Osoyoos in 1967. She was an outstanding homemaker and master baker! Her pies and homemade buns were enjoyed by everyone. She loved to keep her home and garden spotless and said she let Luth garden and she looked after the flowers! Friends from SK and relatives in other parts of BC and the USA would drop in during the summer months to enjoy a visit and the locally grown fruits and vegetables. A private graveside service will be held at 11:30 am on Sat. June 2nd at the Osoyoos Cemetery. This will be followed by a Celebration of Life luncheon at McKia's Restaurant at the Best Western in Osoyoos after 12:30 pm. Flowers gratefully declined. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of BC & Yukon (#4- 1551 Sutherland Ave., Kelowna, BC, V1Y 9M9 or 1-866-432-7833). The family would like to extend their sincerest thanks to the caring and kind staff of Mariposa Gardens.
