COLE: Helen Irene Cole passed away at St. Paul's Hospital - Palliative Care Unit, Saskatoon, SK on February 27, 2012 at the age of 66. Helen will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by her two daughters: Kathy (Kelly) Kesslering of Warman, SK and Sarah Cole (Jamey Nelson) of North Battleford, SK; six grandchildren: Caitlyn and Cara Kesslering, Jayda Cole, Jasmine Starchief Cole, Carson and Crosby Cole; loving companion Clarence Allison; siblings: Frances (Norman) Pearse of Tisdale, SK, Jean (Joe) Cole of Edam, SK, Dorothy (David) Barr of Livelong, SK and Jim (Elaine) Windo; parents Frank and Mary Windo of Edam, SK; extended family and all who knew her. Helen was born on September 9, 1945 in Edam, SK. She completed high school in Edam and went on to take hairdressing in Edmonton. She hairdressed at Tiara Beauty Salon in Saskatoon then moved to Edmonton and worked at Medical Services and Imperial Oil. She returned to North Battleford where she worked at McLeod's and Hudson's Bay Wholesale. Helen completed a secretarial diploma at Reeves Business College and subsequently worked at Dr. Soffer and Dr. Furniss' office then Twin City Medical Clinic. During that time, she completed a Social Work Certificate. She worked in the Deptartment of Social Services until her retirement in 2010. Helen's pride and joy were her six grandchildren. Anyone who knew her was bound to hear how wonderful they were and see the latest photographs. Helen was a member of the Art Club for 30 years. She was most relaxed when working on an art project and spent many hours creating countless wonderful works of art that will forever remind us of the amazing person she was. She always had a crossword book and dictionary close at hand. She showed her grandchildren how to play Tetris and practised it for hours on end to ensure they were unable to get a better score than she could. Helen was always dressed smartly with her look including makeup, nail polish and jewellery. She had a great sense of humor and a positive outlook on life - she believed she would win her battle with cancer until the very end. Helen positively affected many people as is apparent by the large number of friends and acquaintances that she had. Everyone who knew her liked her. She was an extraordinary daughter, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend who was always there when she was needed. The memorial service was held at the Living Faith Chapel on Saturdary, March 3, 2012 at 11:00 am.
