CADRAIN: It is with great sadness that the family of Pauline Hazel Cadrain (nee Ward) announce her passing on March 15th, 2013, at the age of 76, due to complications from leukemia. Left to cherish Pauline's love and memories is her loving and devoted husband of 59 years, Armand; as well, she leaves behind her Mother, Pearl Ward, five sons and daughter-in-laws, 14 Grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren. Children, Ernie & Diane, Rene & Karen, Melvin & Gayle, Gordie & Bernie, Jim & Beth. Grandchildren; Shaun (Carmen), Kevin (Deb); Tanya (Stu), Trent, Tina (Brent), Janelle (Don); Nikki (Mike), Monique; Cherelle (Jeremy), Cody, Jesse; Megan (Kyle), Marshall, Layne. Great Grandchildren; Gavin, Ava, Karsen (Shaun); LoriAnn (Tanya), Cauy (Tina), Keira, Jordy, Jeryn (Janelle). Pauline was born on May 4th, 1936 in Loon Lake, SK., and was raised on a farm in the Robin Hood district and attended the Canyon School until her mid teens. She then moved and started working as a housekeeper for Elie and Estelle Esquirol in the Jackfish district. It was here where she met her husband (Armand). They were married on May 5th, 1953. They spent the next 23 years building a life and raising the 5 boys, on the farm (6 miles north of Jackfish). In 1977, they sold the farm and bought a restaurant (A-line) in Glaslyn. A few years later they built a motel next to the restaurant. Pauline, with help from Armand, ran both businesses until the late 80's when they decided to sell and semi-retire. Pauline then worked seasonal as a cook for Kelsey Camp near Candle Lake and also rented a small restaurant at Candle Lake for a few years. Pauline fully retired in 1996 and continued enjoying life fishing with Armand, bowling, traveling to rodeos, and spoiling her Grandchildren. She had a very special bond with all of them. Pauline was a dedicated community member and spent many, many hours volunteering for many worthwhile projects and events. She was very instrumental in raising funds for, and building of, the Glaslyn Heritage Center. She was also very involved in the Glaslyn & District Museum Association. She was a long time board member for both of these organizations until the last month or so, when her health failed significantly. At Pauline's request, there will not be a Funeral Service. A Graveside Service, at the Jackfish Cemetery, will be held at a later date, where her ashes will be laid to rest. The family would like to especially thank the nursing staff at the C.O.P.S unit at the Battlefords Union Hospital, for all their loving care during Pauline's many transfusions. Memorial Donations in memory of Pauline Cadrain, may be made in Pauline's name, to the "Glaslyn & District Museum" or to the "C.O.P.S Unit" , Battlefords Union Hospital. Funeral Arrangements for the late Mrs. Pauline Cadrain have been entrusted to Eternal Memories Funeral Service & Crematorium. Condolences for the family may be left at
