BUGG: Sarah Marie (Sadie) Bugg (nee Dutton), 30 July 1916 - 8 December 2012. Sadie was born in Worcester, Massachusetts to Eliza and Tom Dutton. Although Sadie's family farmed at Grand Cheviot, SK, Eliza was expecting twins, so she travelled to Massachusetts where she had family and a doctor. When Sadie and Mary were 6 weeks old, Eliza brought them home. After her father died, the family returned to Massachusetts for a few months. Other than those months in Massachusetts and 2 years during the war when she lived and worked in Winnipeg - Sadie lived all her life in the Grand Cheviot and Bresaylor areas. Later, Sadie married John Bugg. John and Sadie loved to dance, and be with their cattle. Many days were spent at cattle shows and in the pasture. Sadie regularly reminded her children of when she milked 11 cows in 55 minutes. Sadie was a playful mom, and her children fondly remember full contact games of tag where doors would be removed from their hinges, and people would squeeze through heating vents in the house to stalk their prey. Sadie was predeceased by her parents; her husband John; siblings George (Marjorie), Arnold, and Mary (Donald Currie); and brother in law John Whitney. She is survived by her sister Vivian Whitney of Saskatoon, sister-in-law Anne Dutton of North Battleford; her children John (Joyce) of Bresaylor, Ted (Jenny) of Bresaylor, Jean (Ron) Leitner of Battleford, and Jim (Angie) of Saskatoon; grandchildren Adam, Kari (Matt), Regan, Jamie (Michelle), Jill, Michael (Rosalie), Matthew (Chelsea), Derek, Sarah, Heather, and Emma; great grandchildren Taylor and Jadyn; and many beloved nieces and nephews. Until she was 94, Sadie lived in her own home on the farm at Bresaylor. Her greatest loves were her family, horses, and being in the pasture with the cattle. When she quit driving a few years ago, she had to give up her time with the cattle in the pasture but she could still watch her family working in the yard and see the cattle in their corrals. For the past two years, Sadie has lived in care homes. Throughout that time, she constantly wished she was home. On December 8, surrounded by her family, Sadie returned home. The family very much appreciates the loving care mom received at River Heights Lodge. We also thank Rev. Ean Kasper, everyone who donates in Sadie's name, and all who shared Sadie's life. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity that helps seniors live in their own homes, or one that supports the brain injured. Funeral Service was held Friday Dec. 14 at 11:00 am from "The Garden Chapel" ~ Battlefords Funeral Service, followed by a lunch at the Legion. Interment took place at Bresaylor Cemetery. ____________________________________________________
