BUELL, Lesley Allan

BUELL, Lesley Allan : Les passed away peacefully in his sleep at the Langham Senior Citizen Home early Saturday, October 12, 2013. Les suffered from a disease called Multi-System Atrophy or MSA. His symptoms began not long after he finished treatment of cancer of the prostate. MSA is a fairly rare disease and affects each individual uniquely with some symptoms mimicking Parkinson's Disease along with frontal-lobe dementia. His disease took an abrupt turn in April of this year and he suffered a steady decline since then. Les was born on November 13, 1937 and raised on the family farm west of Fielding, SK. In 1959, he married Bernice Bennett. Together they have four children, 13 grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. In the spring of 1978, he began farming full-time with his father. Previously, he had worked as a grain elevator agent, heavy equipment operator, and in Saskatoon at a manufacturing plant called Poly-Twine. He'd finally found his dream job as his heart was in the land and in farming. Over the years, Les discovered he had many interests and talents and became a collector of many different things including coins, cars, rocks, and antlers to name only a few. In 1978, after spending a number of years earnestly investigating a few different religions, he and his family were contacted by the Mormon missionaries. After hearing a message of the Restoration and Redemption, Les knew in his heart that he had found the answers to life that he had been seeking. His membership in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for the past 38 years have helped to shape his daily life and led him to become the man he is today. Les is predeceased by his son, Kelly (9) in 1969; his father, William Buell in 1979; and his mother, Helen Garth in 1994. Les is the second youngest of five and is survived by his sister, Phyllis (Ray) Noble of Saskatoon; brother, Walt (Sheri) of Chandler, Arizona; brother, Clarence (Velva) Buell of Saskatoon; sister, Marmie Parenteau of Saskatoon. His children: son, Darin Buell of Fielding, and his children, Mitchell and Shelby Buell; daughter, Tammy (Don) Tanner of Radisson, and their children, Kristen, Jennifer (Benjamin) Baird, Michelle, Mark, Laura, Scott, Amy, and Stephanie; son, Jeff (Heather) Buell of Provo, Utah, and their children, Aubrey, Brooke, and Taylor. Along with brothers-in-law, Dale (Elaine) Bennett and Keith (Alice) Bennett of Qualicum Beach, BC; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Largely, Les has been a quiet, un-assuming, humble man with a wonderful sense of humour. He always did his best to help and serve others. He is loved by many and will be missed by all who have had the privilege to associate with him. The family would like to thank the medical staff on the 5th floor of St. Paul's Hospital, and more recently the staff at Langham Senior Citizen's Home where Les lived his final days. Thank you to everyone who has or will yet express their love, care and concern for our family. Good bye is only but for a small moment. Families are forever. The Funeral Service for Les will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 18, 2013 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (339 Fairmont Drive, Saskatoon) with Bishop Greg Butler presiding. Following the reception, interment will take place at 2:30 p.m. at Fielding Cemetery, Fielding, SK.
