BUCHKO - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ruth Sophie Buchko, late of Battleford, on June 16, 2013 at the age of 74 years.

BUCHKO - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ruth Sophie Buchko, late of Battleford, on June 16, 2013 at the age of 74 years. Ruth leaves behind to forever cherish her memory her loving husband of 44 years, Tony ; her sons: Trevor (Amanda) - Taggert, Ty; Todd (Lynn) - Tanner, Jasmine, Brodie, and Nada; sister Rose (Nick) Chorney; brothers Vern (Alison) and Mike Zazula; as well as many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents Anne and Steve Zazula; and brother Metro Zazula. Ruth Zazula was born to Steve and Anne Zazula in Rose Valley, SK on May 12th 1939 with a twin sister Rose. Ruth attended school at Ponass Lake, Moosehorn School and attended high school in Wadena. In 1958 Ruth completed her Certified Nursing Assistant course. She accepted a job at the Battlefords Union Hospital. This is where she met Tony, and they were married July 1st 1968. This marriage was blessed with two sons, Trevor and Todd. Ruth had many passions in life. She loved nursing. Most of her career was spent on pediatrics. She met many lifelong friends here. She loved the farm and being around the cattle, calving season was her favorite time of year. Ruth was truly a hockey mom. She loved to watch her boys play. They were her pride and joy. A special Thank you to all the people who touched Ruth's life and to those whose life she has touched. Thank you to the staff at Battlefords District Care Centre for all your care and kindness over the years. Ruth will be sadly missed but forever in our hearts. The Funeral Service was held on Friday, June 21, 2013 from Sallows and McDonald - Wilson and Zehner Funeral Home with Mr. Gordon Elias officiating. Interment took place at the Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. If friends so desire, donations in Ruth's memory may be made to The Alzheimer's Society.
