BOUTILIER: Word has been received of the passing away of Dave Boutilier brother of Charlotte and Ida Gillatt. David Roy Boutilier was born May 14, 1917 the third child and first son of Roy and Anna (Gunberg) Boutilier of Kansas City, Missouri, USA.

BOUTILIER: Word has been received of the passing away of Dave Boutilier brother of Charlotte and Ida Gillatt. David Roy Boutilier was born May 14, 1917 the third child and first son of Roy and Anna (Gunberg) Boutilier of Kansas City, Missouri, USA. The "flu" epidemic of the fall of 1918 claimed his mothers life. In October 1920 Anna Louise Peterson Forss became his second "mom" when Roy and she were married. In 1921 his sister Mary Ellen passed away. In the spring of 1922 the family moved to a farm in the Meota Saskatchewan area. Dave and his sister Anna Louise attended both Viner and Wine schools. A brother "Leaman" was born in August 1927 and a sister Charlotte in Feb. 1929. In the spring of 1929 the family relocated to a farm in the Richard, Sask. area. For a short time attended Richard School but then stayed home to help on the farm. In the fall of 1936 the family moved into the village of Richard. Dave helped hid dad operate a "Butcher" shop as well as working part time in the local garage. Early in 1940, together with his friend Keith Wright, Dave enlisted in the Royal Canadian Army, serving in Canada, England, France and Belgium. He was in the RCA until after the end of the war when he was repatriated home to Canada in 1945. Later that year at an investiture in Regina he was awarded the British Empire Medal for "Meritorious Service" during 1939-1945 especially in the Quarter Master section. July 25, 1943 Dave married Joan Elizabeth Gould of Wembley, England. Dave's son Roy, was born in Nov. 1944. Joan came to Canada along with the "War Brides" in 1946 Dave lived in Roberts Creek B.C. working and later running the Co-Op store in Roberts Creek. A daughter Donna was born in September 1947. A short time the family lived in Parksville on Vancouver Island before moving to England in 1951. Dave worked for Rolls Royce of crew starting out as a chauffeur, then as a mechanic. For a couple years, approximately 1957-59 he was sent to the USA as a "Trouble Shooter" and a Salesman, especially in the New York and California areas. He continued to work at Rolls even becoming an instructor before he encountered health problems. In 1976 he returned to Gibson B.C. so as a Veteran, he could establish one year residence to qualify for early pension at age 60 in 1977. In 1979 he bought a home in the Robert Creek area. For the next 34 years he worked on upgrading home, yard and garden as well as being Mr. fix-it and handy and yard-man to his neighbours along the waterfront. He leave to mourn his passing, his wife Joan of almost 70 years, his son Roy (Kelly), his daughter Donna , his grandson Kristen (Trish) all of Gibson, B.C. and 3 sisters: Anna (Charlie) Billings, Kelowna B.C. and their 3 children, Jean, Evelyn and Melvin, Charlotte Gillatt of Maymont and her 5 children, David, Sandra, Gerry, Cathy, and Susan and their families.
