AUDETTE: The strongest limb has fallen from our family tree. It is with grieving hearts and loving memories that our family announces the passing of Marie Rose Audette, our family matriarch, late of North Battleford and formerly of Delmas, Sask. on June 1, 2014 at the age of 101 years and 8 months after a courageous struggle with cancer. Marie Rose Blouin was born October 12, 1912 in the Elnora district of Alberta, the 4th oldest of a family of 12 children born to Alice and Ernest Blouin. The Blouins were a farming family, our grand-father having filed from Quebec for a homestead. Following 3 years of a very hard life, the family moved back to Coaticook, Quebec where the extended family lived. Barely a year and a half later, the west beckoned once more and the family returned to Alberta settling in Lousana. Several years later in 1927, a final relocation was made to Delmas, Sask. Mom's family and the Audette family resided in the village until her final move with father to the Manoir Marchildon in North Battleford in 1989 where she resided until her death. Mom married Germain December 26, 1939, created a life together and raised a family of eight children. A dedicated wife and home-maker, her family was the most important part of her life. She delighted in watching her children, grandchildren and great-grand children grow up and closely followed their accomplishments and achievements. Mom was a devout Catholic who had a simple yet profound and unmoving faith in God and the power of prayer. She was proud of her French - Canadian heritage and its' traditions and was especially fond of those of Christmas; the reveillons, beignes and tourtieres. Left to cherish her memory are children: Gilberte, Esther (Dave), Alice (Harold), Robert (Val), Yolande (Louis), Rachelle (Darrell), Vivianne (Normand), son-in-law Roger (Ruth); 14 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. She is also lovingly remembered by her sister Marguerite, brother Albert, sister-in-law Madeleine Blouin and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Mom was pre-deceased by her husband Germain in 1995, daughter Diane in 1974, parents Alice and Ernest Blouin, 3 sisters and 6 bothers, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. Prayers were held on June 4th, 2014 with Ghislain Bellavance presiding. The Funeral Mass was held on Thursday, June 5th, 2014, in the St. Jean Baptiste de la Salle Catholic Church in Delmas, with Father Greg Elder and Father Gerald Michaud officiating. Music ministry was by Jeanne Michaud as organist and Kristie McNair as flutist. Pallbearers were her grandsons: James Yearous, Doug Gratton, Ron Bec, Greg Eaket, Clint Audette and Jeff Gratton. Interment took place in the Delmas cemetery. Our family wishes to express our gratitude to Dr. Lipsett for his care of mom over the years and the palliative care nurses for their kindness to her and to the family during her stay in the hospital. Thank you to Ghislain Bellavance for presiding at the prayers, Father Elder and Father Michaud for officiating at the Funeral Mass, Bob MacKay and staff at the Battlefords Funeral Service for their excellent service, to Jeanne Michaud as organist, Kristie McNair as flutist, and to the Delmas Ladies for their catering service. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Catholic Missions in Canada, 201-1155 Yonge St., Toronto, On. M4T 1W2.
