World Flag Football Championship Closes: Team Canada’s Mason Nyhus and Mitch Hillis are ready to help grow the game

Team Canada won't return from the Flag Football World Championships with medals but they will have an opportunity to grow the game.

Team Canada’s Senior Flag Men's National Team secured a hard-fought 45-33 victory against Denmark in their final game of the IFAF World Flag Football Championship in Finland, earning 7th place overall.

Regina’s Mason Nyhus solidified his reputation as one of the world's best flag football quarterbacks, going 21 for 27 for 313 yards and six touchdowns.

Team Canada’s Women’s Team beat Spain 39-24 in their final game, securing 5th place overall.

Attention will now turn to Canada's attempt to qualify for the Olympics in Los Angeles in 2028. As part of that refocus, Regina’s Nyhus and Saskatoon’s Mitch Hillis were interviewed for a feature show on the growth of Flag Football worldwide. The feature is expected to air on NBC this fall.
