The Stingers soccer team dominated at both ends of the field during a tournament June 18-20 in Saskatoon.

The Stingers never allowed a goal in regulation during the entire weekend and the final went down to a shoot out.

In the first game of the Eastside Grevers Soccer Tournament, the Stingers played the Eastside Force. After a tough game the Stingers prevailed 1-0. Sheridyn Graham scored the lone goal in the win.

Saturday morning, the Stingers played Big River and had ample chances to put the game out of reach. Graham provided the offence once again, as she scored a hat trick in the 3-0 victory.

The Stingers wrapped up the round robin with a 4-0 win over the Flin Flon Drillers. It was a dominating effort that had four different goal scorers. Graham had one goal along with Courtney Graham, Halley Zahner and Kendra Humenny.

The perfect 3-0 record and 8-0 goals for and against mark had the Stingers in first place heading into the playoff round.

Sunday morning, the Battlefords team was ready to play, as they dominated the Eastside Lakers and won 6-0. Sheridyn Graham had another hat trick while Courtney Graham had one goal and Jessica Landrie notched two.

The finals where played Sunday afternoon in hot, humid conditions, and even then it wasn't enough to help the Stingers' opponents score a goal. The final was a rematch with the Eastside Force and again it was a close, hard-fought game. The score was 0-0 after regulation and extra time solved nothing.

In the shootout, the Stingers gave up their first goal, but Sheridyn Graham scored to tie the game at 1-1. The Stingers final striker, Courtney Graham, made the most of her shot and sealed the win and gold medal for the Stingers.

The Stingers now focus on Division II U18 provincials, which will be played in Lloydminster July 23-25.

Other Battlefords soccer teams that qualified for Division II provincials in Lloydminster include the Battlefords Santos in the U14 boys' division, Battlefords Spurs in U16 boys, the Battle River Cree will play in the U16 girls' division. In Division III provincials the Battlefords Stingers U14 girls will be in Weyburn July 16 to 18.
