It is that time of year - the time when everyone determines how much time they have and what activities or organizations they want to join for the season.
One of the newest and perhaps the most popular in growth is the Battlefords Youth Basketball League. Wednesday and Thursday night, the league will host registration for its third season. As more parents, and students for that matter, learn about the league it continues to grow. Last year the number of younger players doubled and the players in the older group also went up. Registration is from 6 to 9 p.m. at Ecole Monseigneur Blaise Morand School.
Any players born in 2000 to '02 can register in the younger group, which plays for eight weeks, from Oct. 16 to Dec. 4. Last season, the younger group opted to play a second season after Christmas proving the positive impact the league has on the players and fun and experience they gained playing basketball at a beginner level. The older group (1998 to 2000) plays Jan. 8 to March 15. The league is a great way for students to learn the basics of basketball before playing on junior high and high school basketball teams as well as getting active and meeting new friends.
The format for the league is half an hour of practice and an hour of game time Saturday mornings from 9:30 to 11 a.m.
All those who register receive a t-shirt and basketball from the league. For more information those interested are asked to call Val at 445-3974 or 441-2336.
