The series matchups are all set for round 2 of the North Saskatchewan River Hockey League playoffs.
Maidstone Jets will take on the upstart Edam 3 Stars in one series. Meanwhile, St. Walburg Eagles take on the Meadow Lake Stampeders in the other series.
The first game of round 2 is set for Friday night as the Eagles take on the Stampeders at home in St. Walburg.
The semi final matchups are all set after a stunning weekend of action in the NSRHL playoffs, with three series wrapping up on a busy Friday night last week.
Last Friday the Edam 3 Stars completed a surprising three-game sweep over the Wilkie Outlaws in their first round series with a 5-4 victory. The Outlaws had gone through the regular season losing only five times, but found a way to lose three times against the 3 Stars.
Wilkie led 1-0 in the first and 3-1 after two periods, but three Edam goals in the third and an overtime game-winner sealed the win for the 3 Stars.
Brett Jullion with two goals, while Joel Jullion, Scott Maunula and Martin Smith all scored for Edam in the series-clinching victory.
In St. Walburg the Eagles finished off the Turtleford Tigers to complete a three-game sweep of that series.
The game was tied after one period at 2-2 with Jordan Fuder and Randy Larre scoring for St. Walburg while Rory Gervais and Craig McKee scored for Turtleford.
Sheldon Williamson scored the lone marker in period 2 for St. Walburg to take the lead, but two goals in the third by Mitch Perkins and Lake Zbaraschuk briefly put the Tigers ahead.
After that St. Walburg scored four goals to end the game as Taylor Thiessen, Mark Persick, Zach Wourms and Darren Delainey put a capper on a 7-4 victory in game 3 to end the series.
Meadow Lake Stampeders also moved on Friday following a 3-2 win over the Spiritwood Timberwolves, but it took a hard-fought effort by the Stampeders to pull out a victory on the road after going down 2-0 in the first period on goals by Brad Doucette and Jeff Caffet.
But a second-period goal from Regan Beck started the Stampeders come back, Third-period markers by Dustin Gorst and Brendan Wasyliw sealed up the series win for the Stampeders and set up a matchup with St. Walburg.
The final piece of the second-round puzzle was completed Sunday night, Feb. 20, as the Maidstone Jets walloped the Paradise Hill Hawks with a 6-1 drubbing.
Both teams were tied at 1-1 following two periods, but five Jets goals in the third period completed the sweep for Maidstone, who were the league's top team during the regular season with 17 wins and three defeats. Paradise Hill, on the other hand, were the league's cellar dwellers with only three wins all season.
Walter Wickman had two goals for Maidstone while Brett Harrison, Chris Hartman, Jason Roberts and Morgan Thomarat had the other markers for the series-clinching win. Derek Jeanotte notched the lone goal for Paradise Hill in what proved to be the final game of their season.
