In the 5A boys' division, John Paul II and North Battleford Comprehensive were both in Prince Albert at regionals fighting for a chance to advance to provincials.

NBCHS beat John Paul II 25-13, 20-25, 25-13, which eventually earned them second place in their pool with a 1-1 record.

In the quarter-final, John Paul II had their season come to an end against a good Meadow Lake team. The scores were 25-9, 25-11.

NBCHS won their quarter-final match 25-18, 25-20 over Melfort and advanced to play Prince Albert Carlton in the semi final. In an extremely close match and game, which would guarantee a spot in provincials, Carlton won 19-25, 25-21 and 26-24 to advance to the regional final.

NBCHS fell to the bronze medal game and there they lost in two sets, 25-18, 25-19, to Meadow Lake. Since Melfort is hosting provincials, only the top three teams and the host team advanced to provincials and NBCHS was left on the outside looking.
