Friday night in Melfort, the North Stars scored three first period goals, two by Colin Phaneud and one by Woody Klassen.
Kyle Birch was the losing goaltender.
The period scores were: 3-3 after the first, 4-3 for Melfort after the second and 6-3.
Saturday, the North Stars lost 4-3 in a shootout after giving up three powerplay goals.
Zach MacLellan, Klassen and Blake Tatchell scored for the North Stars.
In the shootout, Brett Miller, Colin Phaneuf and Tatchell all missed and Regan Nasbeth was the lone scorer for the Mustangs. Nasbeth also scored twice in regulation.
Alex Sirard made his second start of the season in the loss.
