THE BATTLEFORDS - The Battlefords North Stars return home following a successful mid-week road trip in the southeast.
The club hosts the Flin Flon Bombers on Sunday at 4 p.m., at Access Communications Centre. The game follows close on the heels of their swing through Estevan, Weyburn and Wilcox from Tuesday to Thursday, notching two wins and one loss.
In Estevan Tuesday, the North Stars beat the Bruins 1-0 in a game broadcast across the province on SaskTel Max.
The lone North Stars goal came from Sam Witt unassisted at the 10:14 mark of the second period. The North Stars were outshot 45-29 but Michael Harroch came up with a sensational performance in earning the shutout. The win ended a four-game North Stars losing skid.
The next night, the North Stars came up with one of their most dominant performances of the season to date, overwhelming the Weyburn Red Wings 7-1.
The North Stars outshot the Red Wings 48 to 30 and after an early Weyburn goal scored seven unanswered in the second and third periods to get the win. The North Stars had two goals and an assist from Ryland McNinch as well as a goal and two assists from Zane Florence as well as a goal and assist each from Jake Â鶹ÊÓƵgate, Colby Bear and Dace Prymak. Emmett Wurst also notched his 11th of the season in the third period. Austin Schwab got the win in net for the North Stars.
Thursday action saw the Notre Dame Hounds stop the North Stars 4-2. The North Stats had tied the game at 2-2 early in the third period on Sam Witt's goal but Notre Dame responded with Elliot Dutil's second of the night and then an empty net goal by Kevin Anderson to seal the win.
Ryley Osland got the win for the Hounds, who outshot the North Stars 43-41. Both Harroch and Schwab saw action in net for the North Stars, with Schwab taking over in the third period.
Following their home game against Flin Flon game Sunday, the North Stars are home again next Tuesday and Wednesday nights to Weyburn, both games at 7:30 p.m. at Access Communications Centre.
