The North Battleford Comprehensive High School cross-country team headed to Regina for the provincial championships Oct. 16.
Provincials were held at the Canada Games Park and before lunch, the runners walked the course to become familiar their selves with the route. Hours after the walk, the running began with the midget girls, followed by the midget boys, junior girls and boys, senior girls and finally the senior boys.
Zena Johnson, Liam Bassingthwaighte, Troy Tyndall, Brooke Forbes, Brendan Grosjean, Morgan Hadley and Taisley Isaac all represented NBCHS at provincials.
In the 6km run Tyndall came in 69th with a time of 25:47, Bassingthwaighte came in 77th at 26:14 and Hadley came in 92nd at 27:03. One hundred ten people competed in the race. In the 3km run Isaac came in 67th out of 92 with a time of 14:32. Although no major placings were achieved, the team was proud and came home with some personal bests.
"It is great exercise, an opportunity to travel around Saskatchewan and meet new people," said Johnson. "It's not a long season and it's based on personal improvement, which I really like."
The cross-country team finished their season and are all looking forward to next year when it will start up again.
