Light NSRHL schedule

Due to the holidays, senior hockey has slowed down in the area, but that will change and be back to normal next weekend with seven games scheduled over two days. The lone score to report on from last week was a rematch of the NSRHL final.

The lone score to report on from last week was a rematch of the NSRHL final. This time it was a one-sided affair, as the St. Walburg Eagles beat the Paradise Hill Hawks 10-0.

Aaron Goldade had three goals and two assists while Darren Delainey added two goals and three assists to lead the offence.

Sheldon Williamson had a goal and three assists while Shane Williamson, John Larre, Randy Larre and Zach Wourms had single markers.

Kristian Sawyshyn improved to 6-2-0 this season and the Eagles remain on top of the North Saskatchewan River Hockey League with a 9-2-0 record.

On the flipside, Paradise Hill sits eighth with a 1-9-0 record.

Wednesday in Wilkie, the Meadow Lake Stampeders and Outlaws worked off the turkey and Christmas cheer in a physical battle. Wilkie came out on top 6-5.

Troy Watt, Mark Lorenz, Mitch Suchan and Rick Cey all scored in the first for Wilkie and they dissolved Meadow Lake's 2-0 led. Ray Esau, Jace Andersen and Dustin Gorst scored in the first for the Stampeders.

Cey and Barrett Penner scored for the Outlaws later in the game and Darren Caron added two for Meadow Lake. Nick Pernitsky stopped 20 shots while Rick Dallyn stopped 36 shots in a losing cause.

Wilkie is third in the NSRHL with a 7-4-0 record. Meadow Lake sits seventh with a 2-5-0.

The other game scheduled for Wednesday had Turtleford in Edam, but no score was reported at press time.

Sunday, Maidstone plays in Turtleford at 5 p.m. and Spiritwood heads to Edam for a 7 p.m. start.
