Sunday afternoon hundreds of people met at the Battlefords Wildlife Federation building to have their horns scored, enter draws, eat some wild meat and check out the hunters' prized kills from this season.

The Battlefords Wildlife Federation held their annual horns scoring night and had nearly 20 per cent more head from last year.

The word in the hunter's circles is that this was a better year, especially for the deer hunters in the area and that was confirmed Sunday, as 105 head were measures by two Henry Kelsey scorers and two branch scorers. Last year 84 antlers were measured.

Along with scoring the horns, unused hunting tags were entered for draws for prizes donated from local area business.

The big draw winner was Lisa Oliver, who won the rifle.

Winners in the photography contest included Peter Allison for scenery and Yvonne Brown for wildlife. Those two winners will represent the Battlefords club at the Saskatchewan Wildlife Federation convention in Regina in February.

Raquel Hepp was the winner of the People's Choice award.

The winners for the biggest buck and other awards will be given out at the Battleford Wildlife Federations annual awards night March 5.
