“We were very pleased with how all five of our runners did,” said Brian Grest, an assistant coach for the HCI team and the meet director. “They were focused and dedicated and gave it their best shot at provincials. … the runners are pretty proud of their team standing.”

Football
The HCI football team’s season will be on the line on Saturday.
The 0-4 Mohawks match up with nine-man Conference Four foe, the Delisle Composite School Rebels, on the road. It is a matchup of the conference’s third and second place squads, respectively, with a provincial playoff berth on the line.
“We will focus on preventing Delisle from making big plays offensively,” HCI head coach Cory Popoff said. “We will also continue to work on our blocking responsibilities on the offensive side of the ball.”
After a 4-0 regular season, the Conference Four top seeded Martensville High School gets a bye to the playoffs. In other HCI football news, the school’s junior team ended its season with a victory over Prince Albert’s Ecole St. Mary High School.
Girls Volleyball
The HCI senior girls volleyball team finished third this past weekend at a Watrous tournament. HCI fell in the semifinals to Lanigan, the tournament’s eventual victors.
“The team played extremely hard throughout the weekend,” coach Jarrod Regush said. “Even though the result of the weekend was not as we hoped, we tried to focus on the positives. One positive of the weekend was for the team to come together and beat Watrous in two sets on Saturday. This was great to see as we lost to them in the finals of our home tournament.
“The team bonded a lot this weekend. Even after losing to Lanigan, we stuck around to support them in the finals.”
Senior Boys Soccer
The HCI senior boys soccer team concluded its regular season with a 7-0 loss to Cudworth. The team is waiting to hear about the possibility of postseason play.
“We played better against Cudworth than the score shows. We have been having trouble scoring goals but have been having chances to score,” coach Nicole Unrau said.
