Crusaders go cross-country

As the leaves change colours many love to spend time outside and taking in the sites.

As the leaves change colours many love to spend time outside and taking in the sites. What better way to do that then a run on a back trail?

For most John Paul II students that isn't why they compete in cross-country, but it could be considered an added bonus. In Macklin, eight athletes representing JP II placed sixth or higher in the cross-country race last week.

In bantam girls, Cassidy Stynsky finished second. Noah Zanyk took third place.

At the midget boys level, Cooper Atcheynum placed second with Tyler Wasmuth taking fifth place.

Devon Sylvester was third in the senior boys category and Matthew Hudek was behind him in fourth place.

In junior girls, Mikaela York was first with Taylor Hettinger sixth.

Mikaela also competed in the Sled Dog Cross-Country Race in Saskatoon on Saturday and placed first in the high school division. In three races this season, Mikaela has won all three including the two school races in Macklin and Unity.

All the athletes are striving for the district meet Oct. 7, which will be hosted in North Battleford.
